Nickelback why people hate

Certainly, but much less so than so many other acts cf. Did the band sometimes engage in some frat boy antics? Their music was so mainstream — so exquisitely ready for the CD buyers at Walmart — that it was beneath them. Therefore, the more successful the band became and the more radio airplay they got, the more they needed to be attacked and denigrated.

In the early s, the network ran a program called Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. In May , comedian Brian Posehn was asked to respond to the results of a study published on May 5 of that year that linked violent song lyrics to violent behaviour. Like, Nickelback makes me want to kill Nickelback. Yes, Smash Mouth, Creed, Limp Bizkit, and Hoobastank were all painted with this brush, but no other band had a national comedy network hammering away with the message that they were awful.

But I still needed to know more about the cause of this in my opinion disproportionate hate. So I sourced the crowd with a post on my website. CALE: I feel like they get all this shade thrown their way due to their ability to write catchy songs with a hook that sinks into your brain with what seems relative ease. JOHN: This hate is one of the earliest cases of how internet mob mentality was manifested. With songs on high rotation on the radio, they became an easy target.

It could have been any band, but it became a meme and with the acceleration in Facebook and other platforms. And not just from music journalists. Australian police once tweeted out a warning regarding Nickelback, accusing them of "music crimes". The band also once allowed their music to be used in a furniture advert, which triggered lots of rage about "authenticity". Salli says that's because rock critics see themselves as "protectors of originality". Image source, Getty Images. My friends, however, have not forgotten about what they found on that fateful day.

They bring it up now and then to poke fun at me, and when this happened the other night over drinks, it got me wondering how we as a society decided to hate Nickelback. There are a lot of bands that people dislike and even hate. But what usually happens is that no one listens to their music and no one goes to their shows, and then they fade into oblivion. Believe it or not, Nickelback has been going strong for over a decade.

But despite all of this, we hate them. When it was announced Nickelback would play the halftime show at the Lions game on Thanksgiving four years ago, a petition to replace them as the entertainment garnered more than 55, signatures online. The main argument people make for hating Nickelback is that their music is bland and generic, and all of their songs sound the same. But this is true for so many musical artists, so how did Nickelback achieve this viral level of hatred?

How did this all start? Screengrab: Google It started—believe it or not—with their first record deal. In , Nickelback signed with Roadrunner Records, a predominantly extreme metal label. There was a culture around this label as there generally was around labels during this time, and earlier , and Nickelback even though their early music was a little less top 40 and little more heavy did not fit in.

Right off the bat, they were mocked mercilessly by most members of the metal community, who were generally the only ones hearing their music at the time. Pants on fire. Pants on fire everywhere…. Or country songs, let alone other rock songs. Juke Box Hero? Every rap song not about misogyny? Come on that is a lame reason to hate. Well said. Not a huge fan but they have some good songs. Forget hating Nickelback; hate the bandwagon. Lost in a myth that they still have it after all these years.

Very well said Brandy!! Not that Nickleback is any of these but they hugely successful. Paul… your articles are so stupid. You are being delusional with this Nickelback thing. This is a question i have asked myself many times over the last couple of years.

Glad someone actually took the time to figure it out…even though its still a mystery. As for you asdasd, you sound like a prick. Just saw them in concert and they rocked it. Besides, I think most hate for them stems from the anti-immigrant sentement that exists in the U.

Nice try making this a political thing. I hate them. They suck. Chad Kroeger is an arrogant prick. He had the nerve to call Slipknot and Stone Sour Nickelback light. Both bands are more talented and neither band sound like Nickelback garbage.

Nickelback reminds me of Creed. Overhyped and overrated. HOW do they remind you of Creed?? Creed has two major hits, Nickelback has….. They are also the 11th best selling band in history. Creeds 2 hits were good, but there is no comparison to Nickelback. You have obviously jumped upon the haters bandwagon with nothing left to stand on to back up your hatred.

The real reason nickel back sucks is this: the name of the band is douchey for starters. They also bought guitar riffs from dime bag Darrel. Which is kinda lame too. They are the epitome of commercial generic shit rock. It seems the true dislike stems from being too popular and when a rant starts it is perpetuated by social media.

People started hating on nickelback for the two songs with the same music behind them. Seriously you must be a dumb fucking brit to think that has anything to do with it. Those music is good. I could not stand them long before I found out that many many people felt the same way. However, I am waiting for more to join the hated music scene. Taylor Swift, justin beiber, selena gomez, Miley cyrus, staind.

I might have to start my own site. People who hate them are the ones that are so insecure about life. They have to join every latest trend in a pathetic display of trying to look cool. Rock music sucks, the only one close to the great bands of 60s 70s are pearl jam, and chile peppers. Just saw Nickelback in a packed outdoor concert in Foxboro Mass. They thoroughly entertained their fans, not one bottle or can was thrown!

I even saw a few families, moms, dads and teenaged kids.
